Textiles cast in porcelain create snapshots and allow the observation of one moment during the process of movement or change. Direct influences have been observations of the movement of fabrics, steam patterns and light reflections; also the capturing of moments during the natural processes of change and degradation, such as layers of eroded paint on an old gate, or pieces of glass with crazed patterns found in a scrap yard. The drive to take on such an approach comes partly from the attempt to understand the Japanese aesthetic Wabi Sabi.
